Reports Report 5196a (Event 5196-2017)

Observer
Name Matthew M
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I believe it may have been space junk. It didn't look like any meteorite I have ever seen, and I looked online and found that there is/was a Chinese Space Station set to fall from orbit anywhere between October 2017 and April 2018. I did not see the object impact, nor did I see it streak all the way to the ground. I reckon that it burnt up, but if it didn't burn up completely, it looks like it could have impacted between Millersburg, OH and Columbus, OH. No idea where, as I couldn't see any sign of impact from where I was standing.

Remarks Two smaller fragments broke off and burnt up quickly as I saw the initial fireball. One was skyward and was quite small, while the other was towards the horizon and slightly larger, I would say roughly 1/7th of the size of the main fireball.
