Remarks | This was a very brief sighting…only about 2 seconds…and was unexpected. I just happened to be sitting in a camp chair in my yard and meteor caught my eye to the left. Color was very definite orange. I stayed in my location in case there might be more, but, after several minutes, nothing appeared. I consider myself very interested in meteor showers, and have witnessed one that was spectacular in number, but also had many sonic happenings. I have had exceptional luck in spurious sightings because of traveling at night, and, also sitting out at night using astronomy apps to locate or get descriptions and names of astronomical objects I see. Tonight, I was trying to see if I were viewing Arcturus, looking upward and eastward, when the meteor occurred. |
